Michelin bibendumizes us!

Let’s check back for a couple of minutes on the latest product from the Bibendum. Due for official presentation at Eurobike and available to the public in Q1 2008, Michelin claims the new Pro3 Race will be identical to the tyres used by the pros. Very good so far – we look forward to test riding them. Several models were used in the Tour de France and it’s not yet clear whether the final version Michelin offer will come with or without the special rolling compound? Marketing, marketing…

One final marketing trick for you. Did you know that the pro riders use the existing Michelin Pro 2 Race in 22mm rather than the 23mm width available to the public?

Last but not least, Michelin provides the sponsored teams with tubular tires. They are made in Italy and the thread strangely looks like Veloflex or Vittoria tubulars. Of course they are not available for the public!

Can we still trust Michelin claiming we ride the same tires as the pros?!
